Appendicitis causes symptoms and treatment

 Appendicitis:



Appendicitis is the swelling of the appendix, an vestigial organ. Appendicitis is a more common condition occuring in any age groups. Appendix is attached to the caecum near the iliocaecal valve. Any infection or obstruction leads to the inflammation of the appendix causing appendicitis.

Causes:

Appendicitis is caused due to the obstruction of appendix, which may associated with family history, recurrent infections, pressure during peeing, obesity, poor diet. 

Symptoms:

Appendicitis is an acute condition which need medical emergency. It is more commonly occurs in males than females.
- pain which appears first on umblical region then towards the lower right quadrant of abdomen.
- pain increase when walking,running or any other jerking movements.
- Nausea and vomiting
- mild grade fever
- bloating and flatulence
- constipation or sometimes diarrhoea

Treatment:



It is an emergency condition and removal of inflamed appendix should be done as soon as possible. If it not removed, it swells and bursts leading to spread of infection to other parts of the body. Appendicetomy is the procedure done to remove the appendix. Laparoscopic appendicetomy provides less pain, small sutures and fast recovery.
